About Chicago Bathroom Remodeling Experts

Chicago Bathroom Remodeling Experts is a free referral service and guide for homeowners planning a bathroom remodel in the City of Chicago. We publish plain-English guides to costs, permits and licenses, and we connect homeowners with independent, licensed local remodelers so they can compare written quotes.

What we do

• Explain the Chicago-specific parts. Permits, the Express Permit Program, condo association approval, contractor licenses and lead-safe rules for older homes, always linked to the City, State or federal source.
• Publish honest planning numbers. Cost ranges come from published sources, which we name and date. They are planning ranges, never a quote.
• Connect you with remodelers. When you ask, we pass your request to independent remodelers who serve your part of Chicago. The service is free for homeowners, with no obligation to hire anyone.

What we are not

We are not a contractor. We do not perform remodeling, plumbing or electrical work, we do not give quotes, and we do not sign contracts on your behalf. The remodelers you meet through us are independent businesses. Verify each one’s City of Chicago license and insurance before you hire; our guide shows how to verify a Chicago contractor license.

How we are paid

Homeowners never pay us. Like other referral services, we may be paid by the remodelers we connect you with. That is why we keep our guides independent of any company and our numbers tied to public sources. Read the full referral disclosure.

Where we work

The City of Chicago only, from the bungalow belt on the Northwest Side to the high-rise condos along the lake. Our neighborhood pages start with Lincoln Park, Lake View, Portage Park and North Center.

How we write our guides

• Rules and fees come from primary sources: chicago.gov, the Chicago Municipal Code and Construction Codes, Illinois statutes and the U.S. EPA.
• Prices cite at least one named, dated source, and we explain what scope each number covers.
• We do not publish reviews, testimonials or project photos unless they are real and we can show where they came from.
• When rules or prices change, we update the page and its date. If you spot an error, tell us through the contact form.
